Government launches domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (external link)

Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) (external link)

CSE provides expert, local knowledge about how to improve the energy efficiency of your home; from basic loft insulation to more complex solid wall retrofitting; as well as help with improving heating, lowering gas and electricity bills and receiving the right benefits. The website also contains 24 advice sheets with valuable information on reducing fuel bills and tailored advice to specific queries. The most commonly viewed advice sheets last winter were: 'Using night storage heaters', 'How much electricity am I using?' and 'Room heaters'.

Our Green Deal in Somerset (external link)

Our Green Deal seeks to help homeowners in Somerset who wish to improve their homes, make their heating more affordable and cut carbon emissions. You can use the site to find accredited Green Deal assessors in and around Somerset, and local companies who can take on the work, whether it's a new heating system, solid wall insulation or any other Green Deal energy saving improvement.

The scheme allows to borrow up to £500 upfront, repayable over 6 months to help spread the cost of buying expensive heating fuels such as oil, LPG, coal, logs, wood chips/ pellets. Also available to fund low-cost heating improvements such as thermostatic radiator valves or room thermostat installation. Fill up your tank/ fuel stores now and look forward to a warm winter!
